Idasa has played a significant historical role in establishing mechanisms for peace and dialogue in fragile states. In South Africa. In the late 1980s, Idasa was instrumental in facilitating a number of ground-breaking meetings between leaders within South Africa’s borders and those in exile. One of Idasa’s key areas of work is bringing role-players from different segments of divided and fragile societies together to meet and deliberate on the future of their country. Idasa also provides peace education amongst youth organisations and other civil society groups as part of its broader democracy education initiatives.
